NB Annex Programs
The Annex programs at West Milford are modeled after New Beginnings in Fairfield. The programs at Maple Road School and Macopin Middle School offer students many benefits, including state-of-the-art education, training, therapy and support. By providing the New Beginnings program within West Milford school buildings, students have the opportunity to experience part-time transition visits of varying duration to mainstream classrooms. And, for those students who eventually move to full inclusion, they have access to continuing support from their former New Beginnings teachers.
West Milford children without disabilities also benefit from the New Beginnings Annex programs. In addition to meeting in the corridors and joining together at school-wide functions, older students are invited to become “helpers” and “big brothers” and “big sisters” to the New Beginnings Annex students.
Parents of students in the Annex program also benefit from receiving intensive support and training. For the faculty and staff in each building, sharing of ideas, practices and techniques contributes to an atmosphere of professional growth.
New Beginnings Annex Programs are available at Maple Road School for preschool children ages three to five and primary students ages six through nine, and at Macopin Middle School in West Milford. For more information, contact Brian McCarter (principal) at 973-208-7142.
